The current situation with HRT shortages is an absolute scandal. If this was a male problem these issues with the supply chain which date back to 2019 would have been ironed out. Look how effectively the UK Gov got those vaccines! Another example of medical bias unfortunately.
I’m very much a complementary practitioner and work with women on HRT and those that choose to go the natural route, or who can’t take HRT. Here are some pointers that might help if you are having to reduce your prescription to try to eek it out or are awaiting a new prescription. None of these are me advising you to do instead of HRT just some guidance:
1. Be mindful of alcohol. Be aware of the effects of alcohol especially if your anxiety levels are high as it depletes zinc from the body. It also affects our sleep – and we know that lack of sleep is also a stressor.
2. Have a long soak – Magnesium as an Epsom bath will help with any aches and pains and stress reduction too. You can get these easily from your local pharmacy. Soak for 20 mins and take some self care time
3. Change your diet – Up your phytoestrogens to help support lower levels of oestrogen from tofu, organic soy yogurt like @sojade_officiel , temeph, ground linseeds and brassicas. You can also try a phytoestrogen supplement if your hot sweats have returned such as Menopause Support or Sage Support by @avogeluk_health both of which can be taken with HRT. The @menopoised hot flush acupuncture magnet is also beneficial.
4. Be wary of too much caffeine – too much can put us into stress mode so if you are feeling stressed about this situation then this is just adding to the problem. You can lessen the effect of caffeine if you have only with food.
Lets hope this situation gets addressed pronto for all the women who are suffering.
