Mental Health Speaker
Matt Bagwell Coach, mental health ambassador and lived-experience speaker
Matt Bagwell helps people who've got stuck feel change before they make it. He works mainly with men in midlife, and with business leaders and their companies. For 27 years Matt was an executive leader, helping brands from Barclays to Vodafone get unstuck. He funded, built and sold a sneaker company, helped take another business to unicorn status, and raised over $750m in equity along the way. On paper, it all worked. Inside, it didn't. A single breathwork class in 2019 started the long work of rebuilding, this time from the inside out. Today Matt is an EMCC transformational coach, an Oxygen Advantage® Master Breathwork Instructor trained by Patrick McKeown, and co-founder of The Clearing, a men's personal development community. He ran 1,012km in 22 days to raise over £50,000 for CALM, and his book, Being Unstuck, launches with CALM on 18 November 2026.

The Two Sides of Mental Health
With Michelle Flynn · In Conversation
Matt and his wife Michelle tell the story of Matt's depression and recovery from both sides: the person struggling, and the person living alongside them. An honest conversation about what depression does to a relationship, what helped and what didn't, and the daily practices that keep them both well.
People leave with: language for asking a partner or colleague how they really are; an understanding of the hidden load carried by supporters; practical habits for recovery and staying well.

Stuck: Why Successful Men Hit a Wall in Midlife, and How They Get Moving Again
Keynote, webinar or In Conversation
Stuck doesn't arrive all at once. It accumulates: the job, the house, the family, until a man who seemingly has it all feels that something doesn't fit. Drawing on his own story and hundreds of coaching transformations, Matt explains why midlife hits men so hard, why men aged 45 to 55 are among the most at risk, and the five-step path from rut to rediscovery set out in his book.
People leave with: a way to name stuckness before it becomes crisis; the five moves of Being Unstuck; one small change to try that week.

Regulated: Using Your Breath to Flow with Stress in Real Time
Webinar or workshop · Includes live breathwork
We're often told to calm down. A regulated nervous system isn't always calm; it's one that responds to pressure and sustains performance. Matt explains in plain language how stress works in the body, and teaches simple breathing techniques people can use at their desk, before a hard conversation or at when they want to reset, even in the moment.
People leave with: what regulation actually means; two or three techniques they can use anywhere; a feel for their own stress signals.

Say Less: How to Be There for Someone Who Is Struggling
Webinar or In Conversation · For colleagues, managers and partners
The message to men has been to talk. That's a good message, but it's incomplete, because someone has to listen. Most of us rush to fix, reassure or advise. Matt shows how to witness instead: how to notice when someone isn't OK, ask well, stay with the answer, and know where to signpost, including CALM and Samaritans.
People leave with: what to say (and not say) when someone opens up; how to resist the urge to fix; clear routes to professional support.

Feel It Before You Make It: Mastering Change
Workshop (90 minutes to half day) or webinar
Restructures, promotions, redundancy, divorce, children leaving home: change arrives whether we choose it or not. Matt draws on the idea of liminality, the in-between space after one chapter ends and before the next begins, and introduces auditioning change: a way to feel a possible future in your body before committing to it.
People leave with: a map of where they are in a transition; the difference between chosen and forced change; a simple way to test a decision before making it.

The Empty House: Men, Loneliness and Friendship in Midlife
In Conversation or webinar
Many men reach midlife with a full diary and almost no close friends. Some stay late at work rather than go home to a quiet house. Matt talks honestly about why male friendship fades, what it does to mental health, and what he has seen change in men's circles where men are finally heard.
People leave with: why loneliness hits men differently; how to rebuild friendship as an adult; what a workplace can do to help.

From Here to Extraordinary: 1,012km in 22 Days and What Endurance Teaches the Mind
Refreshed · Keynote or webinar
In 2021 Matt ran 1,012km in 22 days and raised over £50,000 for CALM. This talk uses that run to explore resilience: how to keep going when it hurts, why the team around you matters more than willpower, and how to set goals that stretch you without breaking you.
People leave with: a practical take on resilience; how to build support around a hard goal; how to pace effort over weeks, not hours.

Worth More Than a Job Title: Identity, Anxiety and Work in the Age of AI
Webinar
For many professionals, AI has made a quiet fear louder: what am I worth if a machine can do my job? Matt explores why so many of us tie our sense of self to our work, how that fuels anxiety when work changes, and how to build an identity that holds steady.
People leave with: why work-based identity feels so fragile right now; signs that anxiety is running the show; ways to widen their sense of worth.

Life Bento: A Daily Practice to Stay Lighter, Clearer and Stronger
Refreshed · Workshop (60 to 90 minutes)
Like a Japanese bento box, a good day has balance. Matt shares the small daily practices he uses to keep himself well, from breath to movement to reflection, and helps each person build their own box of habits they can actually keep.
People leave with: a personal daily practice; why small habits beat big resolutions; a commitment they make in the room
