In the second of our series of monthly updates on new topics, we’re shining the spotlight on a session entitled ‘Life’s A Balance.’ This session explores how to develop a healthy work/life balance by building an emotional armour formed of skills including resilience, problem-solving and healthy self-perception. With National Work Life Week round the corner, this one may be of interest.
Essential Resilience
Resilience is one of the key characteristics of an employee who is well equipped to deal with the various stresses and demands of the modern workplace – such as ever-shifting priorities, tight deadlines and managing a significant workload. Ultimately, productivity is reliant on building a flexibly-minded team who are able to cope with – and thrive on – stress. The key to this is resilience. While resilience isn’t necessarily innate, it can be learned, and this session provides vital insights into how best to encourage employees to develop and implement this key skill.
Work/Life Balance
The session includes valuable advice on how to structure and maintain a healthy work/life balance, encompassing areas such as sleep, family, exercise and hobbies. The main triggers of stress are identified, and cognitive, holistic and always practical tips on how to develop and implement strategies to deal with and overcome it are covered – both at work and away from it.
Good for Business
Stress is inevitably part of our busy work lives – so learning how to channel it into something productive is absolutely essential for all businesses. The level of engagement with this session is consistently very high – indicating just how helpful delegates find it – with questions ranging from how to find a sympathetic cognitive therapist to tips on how to best manage and support a team member who is suffering from anxiety.
