The Family Support Network held a Bring Your Child to Work Day on 10 April 2018. The event was targeted at children between the ages of 7 and 13. The children enjoyed a fun-filled day learning about the world of work at Pinsent Masons, with the main focus being on Corporate and Social Responsibility.
The idea of the link between charity and business was introduced to the children, to reflect on different ways they could help charities, and how to increase business involvement for charities. They also looked into how Pinsent Masons nominates a Charity of the Year and raises money for the chosen charity.
On the day, the children were split into 5 groups and completed various activities, included selecting a charity of their choice and promoting this through different advertising techniques. They were also provided with the opportunity to produce cards to send to children at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
During lunch, they presented their ideas in groups to parents. Interestingly, the children who were initially reserved become very comfortable and presented their charity ideas with confidence. Feedback from the children illustrated that having this opportunity opened their minds to the world of work. They thoroughly enjoyed the office tour, waving at their parents as they passed.
